Jazz by any other name sounds just as sweet. Red Bank’s annual outdoor music and food festival has a new name. The Red Bank Jazz & Blues Festival on the Navesink, sponsored by the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation, will take place May 31-June 2 at Marine Park.

Christmas in July in June. Red Bank RiverCenter’s annual fund-raiser for holiday decorations will be held June 5 at the Elks Club on West Front Street. The downtown alliance is planning a barbecue with all the trimmings and entertainment by Brian Kirk & the Jerks. RiverCenter will be seeking donations of gift auction items from businesses in the spring.

Whew! Other events RiverCenter is organizing include two Art Walks, which will take place in Red Bank on April 28 and July 6; Street Life musical performances mid-June through mid August; the annual Sidewalk Sale July 26-28; and Red Bank’s Streetfair Sept. 8.

And for those who like to plan ahead, Red Bank’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony will be held Nov. 29. Details to come.

Gladys Borges Skin Care Salon, 93 Broad St., is presenting "Beauty Through Art," a gallery-style collection of works by African-American artists in many mediums. The collection includes wall art, sculpture, fashion, and home furnishings.

It looks like July 5 will be the date for this year’s fireworks in Sea Bright. According to Councilman William Gelfound, who chairs the beach committee, the borough has tentatively settled on July 5, with a rain date of July 6, as has been the tradition. The borough is also considering Thursday nights for its summer concert series, the same as last year, though Gelfound did acknowledge "but that’s not written in stone." The night of the concerts really depends on the availability of the bands, the councilman said.

The Monmouth chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will hold its next meeting and networking breakfast March 7 at the Blue Swan Diner, Route 35, Oakhurst. Networking will run 7:30-9 a.m. Attendees may purchase breakfast if desired.

The Monmouth Organ Society will present a concert by Ralph Ringstad, March 11 at 8 p.m. at the Jacques Reception Center, Palmer Avenue, North Middletown. Members get in for $5, while nonmembers can enjoy the show for $7.
