JOHN E. PULCINE, 65, of Aberdeen died Feb. 15 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Newark, he resided there and in Colts Neck prior to moving to Aberdeen 24 years ago. He was a maintenance director for various local nursing homes, as well as the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, Building and Grounds, Freehold. He served with the U.S. Army during peacetime. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Pulcine of Bloomfield; his wife, Mary Vogel Pulcine; three daughters, Dana Pulcine, Tiffany Pulcine and Katrina Pulcine, and his son, John P. Pulcine, all of Aberdeen; his sister, Geraldine Bennett of Pine Beach; and his granddaughter, Taylor Lind of Aberdeen. JULIA M. POLGAR PONSOLDT, 89, of Middletown died March 12 at King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in Roston, N.Y., she resided in Toms River before to moving to Middletown three years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Harrison Ponsoldt, in 1982. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce and Theodore Kenny of Middletown, and Linda O’Neill of Colts Neck; her sister, Ann LaRocca of Manchester; her brother-in-law, Samuel J. Mazzola of Hillsdale; and four grandsons. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
NICHOLAS D. ROBERTELLI, 72, of Keansburg died March 13 at home. Born in New York City, he lived there before moving to Keansburg 36 years ago. He was employed with Key Tech, Keyport. Prior to that he was a truck driver for Teamster Local No. 707, Long Island, N.Y., for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Sicily, VT-42. His memberships included the Knickerbocker Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, New York City. He was a founding member of the Italian Teamsters Organization. He is survived by his mother, Angelina Robertelli of Keansburg; his wife of 50 years, Concetta Marzigliano Robertelli of Keansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Robertelli of Howell, and James and Darlene Robertelli of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and James Cocuzza, and Valerie and Theodore Gogel, all of Keansburg; his brother, Vincent Robertelli of California; two sisters, Victoria Padovan and Anna Robertelli, both of Plainfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. MARGARET A. STANTON, 96, of the Morganville section of Marlboro died March 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she lived in Keyport for 18 years before moving to Morganville four years ago. She worked for ABC Freight, New York City, for 14 years before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, John J.; and two brothers, Frank and Owen Sherry. She is survived by a niece, Ann Weldon of Morganville; a nephew, Owen "Sonny" Sherry of Neptune; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
SOPHIE H. WAGNER, 86, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen died March 14 at Cliffside Health Care, Aberdeen. Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Cliffwood. She was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Wagner in 1979. She is survived by three sons, Michael T. Wagner of Cliffwood, Carl P. Wagner of Marlboro, and John L. Wagner of Cliffwood; her daughter, Joan J. Vena of Cliffwood; her sister, Jenny Schmanski of South Amboy; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. ROBERT J. ANDREWS, 74, of Middletown died March 14 at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City. Born in Bellingham, Wash., he lived in Parsippany prior to moving to Middletown in 1962. He was a department head for systems engineering for Bell Labs, Holmdel, for 35 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. His memberships included the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the IEEE Association. He also coordinated the glaucoma eye screening group for the South Jersey Pioneers of America. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion E. Nattrass; and his sister, Geraldine Simonsen. He is survived by his wife, Martha Emden Andrews of Middletown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David J. Andrews of Bellingham, Wash., and Scott W. and Elizabeth N. Andrews of Westport, Conn.; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori J. and Richard L. Daniels of Eatontown; and two granddaughters. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. DOLORES M. DYER MAGEE, 72, of the Belford section of Middletown died March 14 at home. Born in Newark, she lived in Kearny prior to moving to Belford 18 years ago. She was a bank administrator for First Union Bank, Newark, for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, for 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Shaun J. Magee in 1989. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and Ron Searls of Bloomingdale, Ill., and Kathleen and Walter Tappe of Belford; her son and daughter-in-law, Shaun and Diane Magee of Morris Plains; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. EDNA KIERNICKI, 88, of Keyport died March 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Sayreville, she resided in California until moving to the Keyport/Hazlet area 10 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Kiernicki in 1967; her brother, Edward W. Werenczyk; and her sister, Helen Rufner. She is survived by her sister, Mary Kallaur of Hazlet; two nieces, Kathy Baker of Hazlet, and Judy Montagna of Sayreville; two nephews, William Kallaur of Marlboro, and Ronald Rufner of Freehold; and several great-nieces and -nephews. ELINOR ESTELLE DUNCAN YOUNG, 87, of Holmdel died March 3 at Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in Matawan, she resided in Holmdel the past 50 years. She was a teacher for the Holmdel Township Board of Education from 1957-74. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matawan. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Keyport, where she taught vacation Bible school, and was a Philathea Class member. Her memberships included the Holmdel Education Association, and the New Jersey Education Association. Her hobbies included gardening, crafts, and antiques. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Charles I. Young Jr. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty Jean Burkhardt of Red Bank, and Marilyn Y. and Kass Crooker of North Ridgeville, Ohio; her son, Robert C. Young of Tunkhannock, Pa.; her brother, Ralph Duncan of Matawan; her sister, Bernice Lauterwald of Matawan; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
STANLEY H. GLOWACKI, 82, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died March 9 at Meridian Nursing & Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Paterson, he lived in Saddlebrook for 45 years prior to moving to Lincroft two years ago. He was a retired machine designer for Cook Machinery, Lodi, for 42 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor F. Kubash Glowacki, in 1999. He is survived by his son, Dr. Jan Glowacki of Lincroft; and five grandchildren. JOHN P. ROSSEEL, 60, of Freehold died March 9 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he moved to Freehold 30 years ago. He was the owner of Central Jersey Home Remodelers, Freehold, for the past 16 years, and previously had been director of information services at CitiBank, New York City. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1672, American Legion Post 54, and the Republican Club, all of Freehold. He was also a former two-term councilman for the borough of Freehold. He is survived by his wife, Connie A.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen and Susan of Atlanta, and Michael, at home. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by burial at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
ANDREW "TOBY" TOBIAS, 78, of South River died March 11 at home. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a truck driver for Hercules Inc., Sayreville. A former special police officer in both South River and Sayreville, he was a 25-year member of Reliable Company, South River Fire Department. He was a volunteer with the South River Rescue Squad for 59 years. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Laul Tobias; four sons, Wayne Laul, John Ciak and Andrew Tobias Jr., all of South River, and Stanley Ciak of California; four daughters, Cindy Wilczynski and Mary Lister, both of South River, Lillian Tobias of Budd Lake and Andrea Santos of Sayreville; two brothers, Frank and John, both of South River; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
