Marlboro Pop Warner will present Larry Zdilla’s Team Building Football and Cheerleading Camp June 24-28. The camp is for all Pop Warner aged children. The five-day camp will include extensive team building and practice of football and cheerleading skills. Zdilla is a former coach at Marlboro High School where in 1994 he led the Mustangs to the Central Jersey Group IV state sectional title during his successful tenure. The YMCA of Western Monmouth County’s 14-and-under boys’ basketball team captured the YMCA state championship. The Warriors defeated Metuchen, Newark and Summit en route to their win.

Winning the state title advanced the Warriors to the YMCA Regional Tournament in Providence, R.I., where they advanced to the semifinal round before losing to the Pawtucke YMCA.

The Warriors are: Derrick Harris, Ravi Gill, Steve Robinson and John Weldon of Freehold; Isaiah Peace, Lakewood; Thomas Lang, Mike Spinelli, Rob Kruse and Gerard Desimone of Manalapan; and Jeffrey Robinson, Mike Williston and Dorian Picott of Hightstown.

The Freehold Borough Women’s Softball League will be accepting team and individual applications through April 10 for the 2002 softball season. Registration is open to women 18 years of age or older. There is no residency requirement. Call (732) 780-6489 for an application or additional information.
