3 charged in raid at business

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Three women were arrested at a local business when police executed a search warrant at 3 p.m. March 21 following a six-month undercover investigation.

According to police, Oksun Hughes, of Voorhees, Meeja Gee, of Queens, N.Y., and Pilyo Kim, of Woodside, N.Y., were arrested at Pine Therapy Acupuncture in the Chadwick Square shopping center, Route 9 north.

Hughes was charged with promoting prostitution and maintaining a nuisance. She was processed and released on $2,018 bail.

Gee was charged with prostitution. She was processed and released on $1,000 bail.

Kim was charged with complicity. She was processed and released on $1,000 bail.

All three women are awaiting court dates in Freehold Township.

According to Capt. Bob Brightman, the investigation began after customers and employees of the shopping center lodged complaints with police about activities at the acupuncture facility.

Police launched an investigation that lasted half a year and culminated with a judge authorizing the issuance of a search warrant. Officers executed the warrant and were not met with any resistance at the facility, Brightman said. In addition to making the three arrests, officers seized $1,300 cash, credit card receipts and business records.

Following the police action, the business was temporarily closed. None of the three women arrested is the owner of the business, according to Brightman, who said an investigation is continuing into the true ownership of the business.

Detective Sgt. John Todd led the investigation. He was assisted by detectives George Baumann, Troy Braxton, Donald Swinarski, Francis Boutote and William Hankins; Sgt. Jerry Kiwit, Sgt. Stanley Kowalski; and communications officer Darlene Ecks.
