Monroe tennis team gets hot

   After opening the season with a pair of losses, the Monroe High boys tennis team has bounced back to even its record with two wins.
   The Falcons leveled their mark at 2-2 with a 5-0 win Wednesday over Perth Amboy in a Greater Middlesex Conference White Division match.
   Ariel Stern improved to 3-1 at first singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over James Smart. Paul Greim, also 3-1, posted a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Jason Parlacoski at second singles while Frank Senatore won 6-2, 6-0 over Wojciech Czerwonka at the third spot. It was the first varsity singles win for Senatore, a sophomore who played well at second doubles last year.
   In first doubles action, the team of Ryan Septak and Kyle Bossard posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kevin Carreras and Armando Ramirez. At second doubles, Tal Falk and Justin Bauman defeated Sean Bensi and Bryan Almanzar, 6-1, 6-0.
   Earlier in the week, the Falcons notched their first win of the campaign by beating Colonia, 4-1, in a division tilt.
   Stern posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ed Fofrich at first singles while Greim battled to a 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2 win over Roland Jarosz. Stern is 14-7 at first singles over the last two years.
   In doubles, Septak and Bossard won a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Ted Ignatovski and Jeff Urban while the team of Falk and Bauman rallied for a 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 triumph over Dime Ignatovski and Leo Barionov.
   Last week, the Falcons dropped a 5-0 decision to Red Division opponent South Brunswick.
   Monroe is 2-1 in the White Division, having opened the season with a loss to league foe John F. Kennedy. The Falcons were 9-8 overall and 7-7 in White Division action last year.
