Voters defeat school budget

Wolf Schneider, Neil Hudes, David Kanaby, Chris Pulsifer

and John Lisowski Jr. elected to board seats
   An unusually large voter turn-out helped defeat the proposed school budget by a 1526-1180 margin.
   Voters also turned out three-term incumbent board member and former school board president Blair Meiser, electing Wolf Schneider, Neil Hudes, David Kanaby for the three, three-year terms. Chris Pulsifer earned a one-year term, and John Lisowski Jr. captured the two-year term.
   The budget defeat is the first since 1999. The matter will now go to the Township Committee, who will look for possible cuts to make in the budget.
   A total of 2,709 votes were cast, far more than last year’s total of 1,205. The individual vote totals were: For one, one-year term: Chris Pulsifer, 1397, Jeffrey Weinstein, 612; for one, two-year term: Deborah Butcher, 1,039, John Lisowski Jr., 1,111; For three, three-year terms: David Kanaby, 1158, Wolf Schneider, 1,270, Neil Hudes, 1,295, Blair Meiser, 932, Michael Detsis, 900, Laura Burshnic (withdrawn), 573.
