Meet the Packet kids û

About two dozen children whose par´
ents are employees at Packet Publications
visited the company headquarters on
Witherspoon Street in Princeton Thurs´
day.¶
The children live in many different
towns and have many different hobbies,
career ideas and opinions about why they
think newspapers are important.¶
Here are profiles of the children who
took part in Take Our Kids to Work Day.
Michael Girandola

Michael is a fourth-grader at St. Gre´
gory the Great School in Hamilton
Square.¶
His hobbies include playing the vio´
lin, using the computer, writing and play´
ing baseball, soccer and basketball.¶
He would like to be an Egyptologist
when he grows up, which means he
wants to study Egypt.¶
His mother is Christine Girandola,
major accounts manager.¶
Michael thinks newspapers are im´
portant because they tell people about
what is going on in the world every day
– which you can save. Plus, he likes the
classified section.
Matthew White

Matthew is a kindergartner at Grace
Norton Rogers School in Hightstown.¶
He enjoys singing, swimming, art and
playing baseball and basketball.¶
He would like to be an art teacher
when he grows up – and work at Home
Depot.¶
His mother is Joanne White, who
works in advertising sales.¶
Matthew thinks newspapers are im´
portant because they teach people how to
read and they give people a lot of news
about the world.
Matthew Kilgore

Matthew Kilgore is a second-grader
at Princeton Day School.¶
His hobbies include collecting rocks,
playing the piano and playing hockey and
baseball.¶
He wants to be a veterinarian when
he grows up because he loves animals.¶
His father is Jim Kilgore, president of
Packet Publications.¶
Matthew thinks news papers are im´
portant because they are how people get
the news.
Michael Kilgore

Michael Kilgore is a second-grader at
Princeton Day School. His brother is
Matthew Kilgore.¶
He enjoys playing video games and
playing with LEGOs, plus playing hock´
ey and baseball.¶
He wants to be an inventor when he
grows up because he likes to build things.¶
His father is Jim Kilgore, president of
Packet Publications.¶
Like his brother, Michael also thinks
newspapers are important because they
are how people get the news.
Daniel Sobel

Daniel is a second-grader at Perry L.
Drew School in East Windsor.¶
His favorite hobby is playing football.¶
He’s not sure what he wants to do
when he grows up.¶

Peter Sobel

Peter is a fifth-grader at Perry L.
Drew School. His brother is Daniel So´
bel.¶
His hobbies include Rollerblading
and hockey.¶
Like his brother, he’ not sure what he
wants to be when he grows up.¶
His father is Perry Sobel, credit man´
ager.¶
Peter thinks newspapers are important
because that’s how people get their daily
news.
Daphna Bemaman

Daphna is a fourth-grader at Frost El´
ementary School in East Brunswick.¶
Her hobbies include playing basket´
ball and the piano.¶
She wants to be a basketball player
when she grows up because she says she
is so good at it and because it is her hob´
by.¶
Her mother is Julie Bemaman, human
resources manager.¶
Daphna thinks newspapers are impor´
tant because they give people news about
things in other countries and if you don’t
have a lot of money to buy a radio, you
could just look at the newspaper.
Sarah Kutasi

Sarah is a fifth-grader at Island
Heights Grade School in Island Heights.¶
Her hobbies include talking on the
phone, hanging out with friends, playing
soccer and drawing.¶
She would like to be a model or an
artist when she grows up because she
likes clothes and different hair styles.
She’d like to be an artist because she
likes to draw.¶
Her aunt is Mindy Kutasi, advertising
services manager.¶
Sarah thinks newspapers are impor´
tant because they get the news out to ev´
eryone in the world.
Heather Gandy

Heather is a kindergartner at Morgan
School in Hamilton.¶
Her hobbies include coloring and
painting.¶
She wants to be an artist when she
grows up because she loves to draw.¶
Her mother is Beth Gandy, whose job
she has described as "you work for the
other people."¶
Heather thinks newspapers are impor´
tant because the help people learn what is
happening.
Scott Gandy

Scott Gandy is a third grader at Mor´
gan School in Hamilton. His sister is
Heather Gandy.¶
His hobbies include soccer and base´
ball.¶
He wants to be a soccer player when
he grows up because he enjoys playing.¶
He describes his mother’s job by say´
ing "mom uses a phone and computer to
help people that have problems with
bills." Beth Gandy is actually a customer
service representative.¶
Scott thinks newspapers are important
because they tell people what’s happen´
ing in different places.

Emily Bruinooge

Emily is a first-grader at Sharon
School in Robbinsville.¶
Her hobbies include drawing, soccer
and using the computer.¶
She wants to be a soccer player when
she grows up because she is good at soc´
cer.¶
Her father is Scott Bruinooge, pro´
duction manager, who "makes newspa´
pers."¶
She thinks newspapers are important
because they have news for people to
read.
Zachary Lee

Zachary Lee is a fourth-grader at
Holy Assumption School in Roebling.¶
His hobbies include learning about ti´
gers.¶
He would like to be a tiger veterinar´
ian when he grows up so he could help
save them from extinction.¶
His great-grandmother is Lillian Hor´
vath works with legal advertising.¶
He thinks newspapers are important
because the help people know what’s
going on, like what kind of weather is ex´
pected.
Lalenia Guld

Lalenia Guld is a kindergartner at
Groveland Elementary School in Plum´
steadville, Pa.¶
Her hobbies include reading and
dancing.¶
She wants to be a veterinarian when
she grows up.¶
Her mother is Gerri Guld, general
manager and director of marketing.¶
"Mom sells ads," Lalenia said.¶
She thinks newspapers are important
because they tell people what happens.
Michael Russo

Michael Russo is a fourth-grader at
St. Ann School in Lawrence.¶
His hobbies include soccer, basket´
ball, running and exploring.¶
He wants to be a marine biologist
when he grows up because "you get to
swim with dolphins."¶
His aunt is Amy Moody, who works
in co-op advertising.¶
He thinks newspapers are important
because they tell people what’s going on
in the world and people who died.
Jessica Russo

Jessica Russo is a fifth-grader at St.
Ann School in Lawrence. Her brother is
Michael Russo.¶
His hobbies include soccer, basket´
ball, dancing and piano.¶
She’s not really sure what she wants
to do when she grows up yet, but thinks
she’d like to be a marine biologist be´
cause she loves sea animals.¶
She thinks newspapers are important
because they tell people what’s going on
in the world today.¶
Malcolm Henderson

Malcolm Henderson is a sixth-grader
at Fountain Woods School in Burlington
Township.¶
His hobbies include computers, video
games and math.¶

works in the graphics department.¶
He thinks newspapers are important

Hana Carpenter

Hana Carpenter is a sixth-grader at
Timberlane Middle School in Penning´
ton.¶
Her hobbies include computer games,
reading and writing.¶
She wants to be an author when she
grows up because she loves to write.¶
Her mother is Sara Carpenter, who is
a typesetter.¶
She thinks newspapers are important
because they inform people about what’s
going on in the world.
Nicholas Stovall

Nicholas Stovall is a kindergartner at
Roebling Elementary School.¶
His hobbies include collecting shark
teeth and shells, riding his scooter and
collecting Pokemon cards.¶
He wants to be an oceanographer
when he grows up because he really likes
ocean stuff.¶
His mother is Una Kurtz, a graphic
artist.¶
"She works on computers," he said.¶
He thinks newspapers are important
because they tell about stuff that people
might not know about.
Camila Henderson

Camila Henderson is a seventh-grader
at Thomas Hopkins Middle School in
Burlington Township.¶
Her hobbies include studying mythol´
ogy.¶
She’d like to be a journalist because
she wants to travel the world and meet
different people.¶
Her mother is Maria Henderson, who
is a graphic artist.¶
She thinks newspapers are important
because they let people know what is
going on in the world.
Nestor Pacheco

Nestor Pacheco is a second-grader at
Cruz School – Community Park School,
in Princeton.¶
His hobbies include watching TV and
drawing.¶
He wants to help Papa learn English
when he grows up.¶
His father is Nestor Pacheco, press
operator.¶
Nestor said newspapers are important
because they help people find work and
buy houses.
Steven Mutek

Steven Mutek is a first-grader at Mor´
gan School in Hamilton.¶
His hobbies include LEGOs and
baseball.¶
He wants to build cars when he grows
up because he likes to build cars out of
LEGOs.¶
His father is Paul Mutek is circulation
manager.¶
He said newspapers are important be´
cause they tell stories to people.
