Four Seasons offers active adult lifestyle

Amenities include a 17,000-square-foot clubhouse with fitness center, library, computer and game rooms, plus indoor/outdoor aquatic centers.

Walt Nerlick will turn 55 by the time he moves into his new home at Four Seasons at Upper Freehold and he’s planning to make some changes in his lifestyle. That’s one reason he decided to buy a home at K. Hovnanian’s newest active adult community.
Mr. Nerlick, who is single, lives in a townhome in Manalapan. It’s a great home — completely paid off — in a nice neighborhood full of kids, young families and activity. All are good reasons to move, said Mr. Nerlick. He’d been "sort of" looking for a while when a friend told him about Four Seasons at Upper Freehold.

"I wanted to capture the investment of my townhome by selling it and reinvesting in another home," he said. "I also wanted to move to a quieter place. The active-adult lifestyle seemed perfect."
Mr. Nerlick chose the Bonaire, a 1,750-square-foot home with two bedrooms, two baths and a two-car garage. He added a sunroom, bay windows, upgraded the lighting and added an attic storage area over the garage. He also chose several kitchen options.
"The kitchen is an important room," he said. "It opens into the family room and flows right into the sunroom. It’s laid out very nicely and it’s where I’ll be spending a lot of my time with friends."
In fact, the family room was so nice, he decided he really didn’t need the living room. Mr. Nerlick chose to have the open living and dining rooms divided and make the living room into a private den. The addition of the bay window, he said, would make it roomier.
Mr. Nerlick said he’s looking forward to moving to Four Seasons at Upper Freehold. He calls the area rural and beautiful, and said he looks forward to taking advantage of the nearby golf courses. He added that he can’t wait to use the clubhouse.
"The clubhouse is going to include a computer room and fitness center," he said. "The pool also will be good for me. I have a rowing machine now. I can throw that away since I can walk to the clubhouse."
