HILLSBOROUGH Evelyn S. Drake died Friday, April 26, at Somerset Manor South in Somerset. She was 91.
Born in South Somerville, she lived in Hillsborough for more than 65 years.
Mrs. Drake was a legal secretary for T. Girard Wharton, a Somerville attorney. Later she was a secretary and bookkeeper for her husband’s building business.
She was a member of the Harlingen Reformed Church, Harlingen. She also participated in the Hillsborough PTA and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Montgomery Fire Company.
Her husband, William S. Drake, died in 1981. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Clyde, John, Earl, George and Walter Stryker; and two sisters, Edith Neville, and Olive Bicker.
Surviving is her daughter, Joyce Dorell of Hillsborough.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30, at the Speer Van Arsdale Funeral Home, in Somerville. The Rev. William DeYoung officiated. Burial was in Neshanic Cemetery.
