ABERDEEN — A Hazlet man was charged with aggravated assault with an automobile after allegedly striking his girlfriend with his Jeep.

Police arrested Gregory W. Laneski, 32, Bethany Road, after being called to the scene of a domestic dispute in the Aberdeen Town Square shopping center on Route 34 Sunday shortly after 5 p.m.

According to witnesses, after an argument with his girlfriend, a 34-year-old Aberdeen woman, Laneski began to throw her property out of the vehicle, police said.

As the victim attempted to retrieve the items, police said Laneski backed up in the Jeep running over her foot and striking her leg. The victim refused medical assistance.

In addition to aggravated assault with an automobile, Laneski was charged with aggravated assault, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Officer Henry J. Chevalier III made the arrest. He was assisted by Officer Michael O’Dwyer.
