Don’t attack talents

Letter to the editor

To the editor:
My husband and I were totally appalled to read the article in the paper about the mural at Hightstown High School ("Questions raised over mural’s ethnic inclusiveness," May 3, 2002, Page 3A). We are in favor of free speech, but not attacking someone’s personal talents and artistic ideas, especially as a large headline. Mr. Plank is an extremely talented artist and has contributed his talents on all levels to this school district and community voluntarily — he does not do it to promote his name or receive payments of any kind. It is totally disrespectful to Mr. Plank and to the community we live in to have printed this article. We are very disappointed.
