John E. Hobson, 73, of Lawrence died Wednesday, May 15, at home.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
He retired from the state Department of Transportation in Ewing after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. James R.C. Church in Pennington and was in the Navy Sea Bee’s for 32 years, retiring in 1994.
Son of the late Lester and Elizabeth Hutchinson Hobson, husband of the late Elizabeth Ruddick Hobson, he is survived by two sons, John Hobson Jr. of Levittown, Pa., and Jeffrey Jobson of Hamilton; three daughters, Debbie Conard of Pennington, Lisa Lanning of Hopewell and Beth Meckel of Whiting; a brother, Richard Hobson of Pennington; and 10 grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, in Pennington. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
