Aberdeen police apprehend Cliffwood robbery suspect

ABERDEEN — Police charged a 44-year-old Cliffwood man with robbery in connection with an incident that took place on Cliffwood Avenue on Sunday morning.

Mark A. Jackson, Center Street, was placed under arrest for the crime.

After responding to the call of a fight occurring in the area of Raritan Street, police found a 20-year-old Cliffwood resident in the parking lot of the Eckerd drugstore who said that he had been approached by a tall, thin black male while talking on a pay phone on the other side of Route 35. He further described the suspect as having a dark complexion and wearing an orange jacket.

After the victim refused his demands for money, Jackson allegedly punched him in the eye and took $20 in cash from him.

Shortly after, tactical patrol Officers David Mauro and Gus Grivas located Jackson, who matched the description, a short distance away.

Jackson was identified by the victim and placed under arrest by Officer Louis Nanna. He was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold Township, in lieu of $50,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
