Middletown Library to show free films in June

Middletown Township Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, will show free films during June, beginning with a western starring Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen June 4. The films will be shown at 3 p.m.

The film Flowers of Shanghai (Mandarin with English subtitles) will be June 11. A musical set in St. Louis and starring Judy Garland and Margaret O’Brien will be June 18. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello will star in a film featuring "Who’s on First" June 25.

Roundtable meeting to be held at Poricy Park

A roundtable meeting and discussion will be June 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Poricy Park, Oak Hill Road, Middletown. A $5 donation is requested, and middle and high school students may attend without fee. Refreshments will follow the meeting.

Historic interpreter Clarissa Dillon will speak on the colonial kitchen garden and the women who planted, tended, and used products from the garden. Dillon is the president and founding member of Past Masters News and has lectured at several conferences.

Brochures are now available for the 250-acre park. Poricy’s programming and staff are provided by the nonprofit Poricy Park Citizens Committee. Park features include a 70-million-year-old fossil bed, the colonial Murray farmhouse, nature camps and programs.

Programs offered this summer include "Amazing Dirt" and "Cool Craft Camp." Nature camps begin June 17, and camp fees range from $55-$140, depending on camp selected.

Catholic Women of Zion plans one-day retreat

The Ministry of the Catholic Women of Zion will hold a one-day retreat June 8 at the Lincroft Inn, Lincroft section of Middletown. Admission is $20. The day will begin with a Mass at 10 a.m., followed by lunch and a guest speaker, Carol Bulcroft, co-founder of Our Lady’s Pathways Ministry, an educational and pilgrimage ministry of the Catholic church. She will present "God’s Dearest Treasures."

‘Summer Gala and Raffle’ slated for June 6

Catholic Charities, Red Bank, will hold its "Summer Gala and Raffle" June 6 at Navesink Country Club. The event will feature dinner, a super 50/50 raffle, and musical entertainment by the McLoone-atics. Honorees this year will be Tim McLoone and Holiday Express.

Proceeds will benefit services provided in Monmouth County by Catholic Charities and Monmouth Behavioral Health Care Services.
