BRIG. GEN. PETER E. GENOVESE JR., USAR (retired), 64, of Brick Township died May 19 at The Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick, after a battle with leukemia. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Holmdel prior to moving to Brick Township. He worked in his family’s business in Red Bank prior to joining the U.S. Army as a tactician and battalion commander. He rose in command to a full colonel at age 42, and was promoted to brigadier general at age 47. Following his tour with the Army, he joined the New Jersey National Guard, and then ran Crate’s Beverages Inc., Red Bank. He was a military graduate of the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania; the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa.; and the National War College, Washington, D.C. He was past president of the Red Bank Rotary Club, receiving its honor of a Paul Harris Fellowship. He was on the boards of the Red Bank Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of America, the American Cancer Society, and the Association of the U.S. Army, Fort Monmouth Chapter. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret Sacco Genovese of Brick Township; his daughter, Tamara Sulzbach of Brick Township; three sons, Peter Genovese III of Holmdel, Keith Genovese of Manalapan, and Jeffrey Genovese of Oceanport; his brother, Frank Genovese of Holmdel; two sisters, Theresa Drapczuk and Maryann Yori, both of Holmdel; his mother, Josephine Allocco; and several grandchildren. KNUD B. PEDERSEN, 81, of Aberdeen died May 17 at home. Born in Aarhus, Denmark, he lived in Fairlawn before moving to Aberdeen 38 years ago. He was a Merchant Marine master for United States Lines, Cranford, for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He served with the British Merchant Marines during World War II, and the U.S. Merchant Marines during the Vietnam War. He joined a Danish training ship, and also sailed on Danish merchant ships. He was a member of the Council of Master Mariners, the Boston Marine Society, and the New York Marine Society. He was predeceased by two brothers, Martin and Christian Christensen; and his sister, Olga Rasmussen, all of Denmark. He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Felter Pedersen of Matawan; his daughter, Ingrid Pedersen of Newtown, Pa.; his brother and sister-in-law, Willy and Shirley Christensen of Fairlawn; two sisters, Stence Langhave and Oda Pedersen of Denmark; and his granddaughter. A memorial service will be held June 15 at 10 a.m. at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. MARY ANNE FOSTER, 63, of Victoria, Va., formerly of the Belford section of Middletown, died May 18 at Community Memorial Health Center, South Hill, Va. Born in Newark, she lived in Belford prior to moving to Victoria one year ago. She was an office manager for Fair View Cemetery, Middletown, for 18 years, retiring in 2001. She is survived by her husband, Leo T. Foster of Victoria; her daughter, Jennifer Ann Lopes Reichart of Waretown, N.Y.; four stepdaughters, Linda Susan Foster-Laub, Mary Kathlene Muniz, Genevieve Louise Grant, and Cheryl Lee Cash; two grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

MARIE M. BAIERSDORFER, 78, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen died May 21 at home. Born in Austria, she lived in Maryland and Keyport prior to moving to Cliffwood Beach 48 years ago. She was employed at Ballard Advertising, Keyport, and Connectron, Laurence Harbor, for several years, retiring in 1990. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Baiersdorfer, in 1970. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Judith Baiersdorfer of Aberdeen; her sister, Angela Toglehofer of Austria; and one niece and nephew. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.

JEAN E. ANDERSON, 87, of Union Beach died May 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Pennsylvania, she was an area resident for 43 years, residing in Hazlet for 14 years prior to moving to Union Beach. She was a clerk for Vogue Cleaners, Hazlet, for 17 years, retiring in 1987. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Anderson in 1970; a son, Richard Anderson in 1966; a daughter, Ellen Jensen in 1995; and two brothers. She is survived by three daughters, Eileen Sickles of Hazlet, Elizabeth Fennell of Michigan, and Virginia Hassell of Maryland; two sons, Donald Anderson of Union Beach, and David Anderson of Jackson; her son-in-law, Moe Jensen of Florida; three brothers; three sisters; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. John’s Methodist Church, Hazlet. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. MARY VESPA FENIELLO, 87, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died May 21 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Italy, she lived in Jersey City for 60 years and moved to Lincroft 12 years ago. She worked part-time at Modern Hatters, Jersey City, for 25 years. She was also a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Feniello, in 1987. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annette F. and Martin Weiss of Tinton Falls; her brother, Nicholas Vespa of Paterson; and two grandchildren. EDWARD L. STOVER, 68 of Toms River died May 25 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown most of his life, relocating to Toms River four years ago. He was self-employed contractor and owner of Atlantic Coast Home Improvement, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Middletown Elks. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Stover in 1991; and his grandson, David Vanderbilt. He is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Harold Stover of Middletown, Diane and Wayne Zambor of Jackson, Cathy and Michael Dwyer of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Donna and Eric Nelson of the Belford section of Middletown, Denise and Michael Alfano of Middletown, and Julie and Douglas Vanderbilt of Middletown; three brothers, Robert Stover of Manahawkin, George Stover of Toms River, and Arthur Stover of Middletown; his special friend, Barbara Fisler of Belford; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

EVELYN FERRARI DESIDERIO, 93, of the Leonardo section of Middletown died May 22 at The King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there before moving to Leonardo four years ago. She was a retired social worker. She also attended the Juilliard School, New York City, and taught piano in Brooklyn. She was a communicant of and organist for Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Desiderio, in 1987; her daughter, Diane Desiderio, in 1997; and her sister, Caroline Avallone, in 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Dorothy Desiderio of Leonardo; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo.

ALFRED CHRIS FINKBONHER, 53, of Middletown died May 24 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Honesdale, Pa., he lived in Barnegat prior to moving to Middletown 19 years ago. He was a printing production supervisor for Master Consulting PA, Matawan, since 1996. He was also the owner of TAMA Printing, Red Bank, from 1990-96, and worked for T & M Associates, Middletown, from 1972-89. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Marlboro, and the North Shore Antique Car Club. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred Finkbonher. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet Jacobsen Finkbonher of Middletown; three daughters, Dawn Marie, Erin Lynn and Amy Jean Finkbonher, all of Middletown; his mother, Ruth Finkbonher of Keansburg; his sister, Donna M. Kratz of Severn, Md.; and two nieces.

ROBERT F. HUNT SR., 85, of Middletown died May 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New Haven, Conn., he lived in Bergenfield and Hazlet prior to moving to Middletown one and a half years ago. He was a manager at Prudential Insurance Co., Newark and Holmdel, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1984. He served with the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a member of and usher at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was also a member of the church’s Nocturnal Adoration and St. Vincent DePaul Society, and assisted with its basketball league and carnival. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Peppercorn Hunt of Middletown; two daughters, Sandra Hunt of Chicago, and Nancy Fornarotto of Bloomfield; three sons, Robert F. Hunt Jr. of Los Angeles, Peter J. Hunt of New York City, and Anthony Hunt of Dunellen; three brothers, William Hunt, George Hunt and Vincent Hunt; a sister, Marguerite Hunt; and eight grandchildren.
