Park system’s Deep Cut Gardens Festival June 9

The Monmouth County Park System’s Deep Cut Gardens Festival will be June 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Deep Cut Gardens, Red Hill Road, Middletown.

The free event will feature tours, gardening lectures, demonstrations, food and craft vendors, and horticultural exhibits. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Parks.

National Trails Day will be June 1 at Thompson Park, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. Groups will meet at 9 a.m. at the craft center parking lot, and individuals will take part in trail construction projects. Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeves, work shoes, and work gloves.

The park system has scheduled a van trip to Pearl S. Buck House, Dublin, Pa., June 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a cost of $37 which covers transportation, admission and park system leader. The trip will depart from Thompson Park.

Thompson Park’s climbing wall will be open to area residents age 8 and older (under 18 with adult) June 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $12.50 per person. An "Introduction to Touring Kayaking" clinic will be at Thompson June 13 from 7-9 p.m.

An outdoor session will be June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Manasquan Reservoir, Windeler Road, Howell. Cost is $55, which covers the clinic and materials.

A "Multi-Dimensional Greeting Cards" program will be at the craft center June 15 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $27 for the program which will teach three-dimensional art and "found" objects to create cards. Attendees should bring a bag lunch.
