Letter to the editor
To the editor:
Since apparently there will be no public forum in which to compare our mayoral candidates, here’s my wish list: I want a mayor who behaves like an adult with an independent mind. I want a mayor who interacts maturely with elected officials, setting aside personality conflicts for the greater good of the town. I want a mayor who does lots of homework and who works very hard to solve the problems that affect our town. I want a mayor with a vision for Hightstown’s future and a sense of how to get there. I want a mayor who will discuss ideas and keep lines of communication open. I even want a mayor who accepts criticism, welcomes challenges and respects challengers.
Is this too much to ask? Maybe so, but just in case it’s possible I’m voting for Mike Vanderbeck for mayor on June 4.
