Two men injured in Jackson accident

JACKSON — An accident that occurred on Sunday left two men with critical injuries when their car left East Vet-erans Highway and struck a tree.

Juan Monserrate Jr., the driver, was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, by helicopter. A passenger, Angel Ramirez Jr., was taken by ambulance.

According to Jackson Township Police Officer Trevor Crowley, the accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

According to a patient information representative at Jersey Shore Medical Cen-ter, Monserrate was in stable condition and Ramirez was still in critical condition early Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, Monserrate was driving north on East Veterans Highway, just north of Dunhill Road, when his car crossed the southbound lane, went off the shoulder of the road and struck a tree.
