Residents encouraged to attend square application hearing

One of the most common misconceptions I have heard regarding the proposed town square is that it would have a negative impact on the environment, covering it "… with pavement, concrete and construction."

Whoever is spreading such rumors has surely not seen the plans. Town square has been specifically designed to maximize the environmental features of the property. In fact, more than two miles of nature paths are being planned to connect to local parks. Acres are being reserved for a large town green. The town square will feature waterways and other natural features that residents can enjoy all year round.

The plans show that more than 40 percent of the property will be reserved for open space, more than is required by local land use law.

Project designers want to ensure town square would be a perfect fit for the community and provide amenities that people can really appreciate, including undeveloped land.

To find out the real facts about the project, please come out to the next Zoning Board hearing on the town square application, June 26 at 8 p.m. at Middletown South High School. I’ll see you there.
