District One Babe Ruth

The Lawrence Babe Ruth 13-year-old all-stars had a difficult weekend in its tournament.
After capturing the first game, 4-3, over Princeton on Friday, the Lawrence boys dropped their next two games.
On Saturday, the team lost, 9-1, to Nottingham. Jim Gorski, who went 2-for-3, drove in Christian Cox for the lone Lawrence run. Jason Zegarski also singled.
Lawrence then faced elimination in its game against Hightstown-East Windsor Monday night. The boys battled hard, but wound up on the wrong side of a 8-4 decision.
Gorski again was the offensive star, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one knocked in.
The teams were knotted at 3-3 after one and 4-4 after three, before HEW finally pulled away with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
