Carol Roche retiring; Rich Lang leaving CHS

Acceptance of the retirement of Dr. Carol Roche, the Hopewell Valley Regional School District’s assistant superintendent since 1995, was among a series of personnel actions approved unanimously by the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education on June 24.
Dr. Roche’s retirement is effective Oct. 1. Dr. Roche was unavailable to discuss her future plans because she is on vacation this week.
Other personnel actions taken by the school board at the June 24 meeting include the following:
Richard Lang was appointed the school district’s director of human resources at an annual salary of $102,822. Mr. Lang has been a vice principal at Central High School for a number of years. He is taking the job now held by Pat Priesing, who is retiring effective Oct. 1.
Nicole Gianfredi was appointed special education teacher at Hopewell Elementary at an annually salary of $42,482. Ms. Gianfredi has a bachelor’s degree from Douglass College and a master’s from the College of New Jersey.
Elizabeth Richtmyer was appointed a teacher at Stony Brook Elementary at a salary of $45,394 annually. Ms. Richtmyer has a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and is an experienced primary and English as a Second Language teacher.
Jennifer Havens was appointed part-time special education teacher at Hopewell Elementary at an annual salary of $24,097.
Marilyn Lilly was appointed part-time German teacher at Central High School at an annual salary of $17,474. Ms. Lilly is graduate of SUNY Cortland and has a master’s degree from Middlebury College. She also was appointed as a part-time paraprofessional at Timberlane, at an annual salary of $8,700.
Sandra Schemelia was appointed a secretary in the technology department at an annual salary of $27,251.
Emil Erdelsky was appointed as attendance officer for the school district at a rate of $18.50 per hour, not to exceed 350 hours for the 2002-2003 school year. Mr. Erdelsky is a retired officer of the Hopewell Township Police Department.
Teacher Dawn Wheeler was transferred from Hopewell Elementary to Stony Brook Elementary, effective Sept. 1.
