‘Crazy for You’ in Edison July 24-Aug. 3

Middlesex County’s Plays-in-the-Park series will continue with the musical Crazy for You July 24 through Aug. 3 (except July 28). The performances will be held at the Stephen J. Capestro theater (formerly Roosevelt Park amphitheater), Route 1, Edison.

Local resident Frank Andrews of the Dayton section of South Brunswick will portray Bela Zangler. The play features songs such as "I Got Rhythm" and "Someone to Watch Over Me."

The plays are sponsored by the Middlesex County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Tickets are $3, and free for children age 12 and younger. The box office opens at 5:30 p.m. on performance dates. Attendees must bring a low-back lawn chair. For performance time or more information, call the theater at (732) 548-2884.

‘Wild World’ of Reptiles

scheduled for July 20

The South Brunswick Public Library will present "Wild World of Reptiles and Bugs" July 20 at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required for the program for children ages 5 and older.

A four-week yoga session will be offered July 22 and 29, Aug. 12 and 19 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $30, and participants need to bring an exercise mat and wear loose clothing. The class is appropriate for beginner and intermediate levels.

The library’s adult book discussion club will meet Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss That Camden Summer by Lavryle Spencer. The club meets on the first Monday of the month, but the September meeting will be held Sept. 9 due to the holiday. The remaining books are Road From Coorain by Jill Conway (September), short stories by John O’Hara (October), Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr (November), and Country of the Pointed Firs by Sarah Jewett (December). North Brunswick center to offer various trips

The North Brunswick Senior Center, 15 Linwood Place, will offer a trip to Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport, July 19.

Cost is $42 which covers bus transportation, admission, program, souvenir pen and buffet luncheon in the Rivalry Room (men must wear jackets).

A trip to Point Pleasant will be Aug. 13, and cost is $3 per person. A trip to the battleship, New Jersey, will be Sept. 3, and cost is $27 which covers bus transportation, admission, and box lunch.

‘Safe Sitter’ program to be offered July 18

St. Peter’s University Hospital will offer a "Safe Sitter" program July 18 at the hospital’s Sister Marie daPazzi Conference Center, 254 Easton Ave., New Brunswick. Another class will be Aug. 15 at the 4-H Center, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Both classes are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The class is for boys and girls, age 11-13. Cost is $50, which covers all materials. The program will teach how to handle emergencies, as well as how to feed and diaper a small child and what to do for a choking child.
