Monmouth County Park System schedules trips to New England

The Monmouth County Park System has scheduled the following trips to New England. Preregistration is required for all trips.

"The Berkshires and the Boston Pops," Aug. 25-27. This three-day, two-night trip will leave Thompson Park, Lincroft, at 8 a.m. Sunday and return at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. It includes a guided tour of the Berkshires, shopping, visits to Hancock Shaker Village and the Clark Art Institute, a performance of the Pops at Tanglewood, and a stop at the Norman Rockwell Museum. The cost per person is $540 single, $430 double, $400 triple and $380 quad.

"Ocean Vistas of Cape Cod," Sept. 3-6. This four-day, three-night trip leaves Thompson Park at 8 a.m. Tuesday and returns at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday. The trip includes a guided tour of Woods Hole, a steamship ride to Martha’s Vineyard, trips to Edgartown, Gay Head, Yarmouth, Provincetown, Hyannis and the JFK Memorial, and a Hyannis Harbor cruise. The cost per person is $495 single, $430 double, $410 triple and $400 quad.

"The Mountains and Lakes of New Hampshire," Sept. 27-30. This four-day, three-night tour leaves Thompson Park at 5:30 a.m. Friday and includes a guided tour of the White Mountains, a Cog Railroad Steam Train ride, shopping in North Conway, a tour of the Lakes Region and Castle in the Clouds, a cruise of Squam Lake (Golden Pond) and a visit to Canterbury Shaker Village. The cost per person is $630 single, $530 double, $470 triple and $460 quad.

"Salem, Mass., Haunted Happening," Oct. 20-21. The bus will leave Thompson Park at 6:15 a.m. Sunday and return on Monday. The adventure includes a guided tour of the city; free time for dining; a visit to the Peabody and Essex museums for "Eerie Events," a professional presentation of unearthly tales set in the mansions and garden; and a tour of the Salem Witch Museum. The cost per person is $235 single, $195 double, $170 triple and $160 quad. The rate per child (ages 5-12) is $130.

"Historic Plymouth and New Bedford Tour," Nov. 7-9. The trip includes a stay at the John Carver Inn, dinner at the Grand Buffet, a guided walking Colonial lantern tour, and guided tours of Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II, Plimoth Plantation, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum. The cost per person is $420 single, $315 double, $275 triple and $260 quad. The rate per child (ages 8-12) is $175.
