The Monmouth County Park System, Lincroft section of Middletown, has launched a pilot program with Monmouth University, West Long Branch. The program will provide recreation scholarships to children demonstrating a financial need and are interested in sports or the arts.
The scholarships will enable the children to attend camps at Monmouth this summer. The school is sponsoring the scholarships which the Park System will award to residents of Neptune, Asbury Park, Long Branch and Highlands.
A one-week all-sports camp session will be offered for a total of eight sessions through Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Instructors include athletes and coaches from the university and certified elementary school teachers. A four-week art and design camp will run through July 31, with instructors including professional artists and art professors.
