Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Monmouth County (BBBS) will hold its 13th annual Golf Classic Sept. 26 at Spring Lake Golf Club. BBBS matches at-risk children with adult volunteers who act as friends, confidants and mentors.

The cost for the event in $300 per individual golfer ($1,650 for a corporate foursome), and includes a full day of golf and club service.

The Atlantic Coast Football League, the area’s largest recreational flag football and touch football association, has scheduled a charity tournament for Aug. 18 at Rockland Lake State Park in Upper Nyack, N.Y. The tournament is being held to benefit the stricken family member of an ACFL player. Samantha Conlon, the 17-month-old cousin of Richard Giannasca, who plays for the Yonkers Maulers, has recently received a $250,000 lifesaving liver transplant.

Along with the net proceeds from the event, family and friends will be selling food and drinks to the players and spectators to help raise money to defray these and future post-operative costs.

The tournament will be eight-on-eight (two count) flag football.

The cost is $325 for preregistrants and $375 for walk-ons. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. Cash prize is $700 to the winner plus a tournament trophy.
