AROUND CRANBURY: Old favorites and history on Cranbury Day

Columnist Lorraine Sedor walks us through Cranbury

The Cranbury Arts Council has announced a change to its Creative Dance class schedule. Due to a conflict, Miss Lilli has to change the day to Tuesdays.
Classes will now begin Tuesday, Sept. 17 with times remaining the same. Questions may be directed to Anita Boschitsch at (609) 860-2521.
Library Director Howard Zogott reports that "The Cranbury Public Library’s Wild Wild Summer Safari Summer Reading Club was the best since I’ve been here. One hundred thirty-five children read 2145 books." Certificates of participation and safari photographs can be claimed at the circulation desk.
Mr. Z thanks Heather Cvrlje and Ginny Swanagan for making the Reading Club so exciting and attractive, and, of course, he salutes all the boys and girls who read and participated.
Appointments are filling fast for the return of Ruth Grabner, the Silhouette Lady, to the Cranbury Museum on Cranbury Day. Ms. Grabner has cut portraits at the museum in the past, and parents have always been delighted with the results.
I even seem to recall a few sample pet portraits among Ms. Grabner’s portfolio! To avoid a long wait and possible disappointment, the society suggests scheduling your 15-minute session as soon as possible. Contact Karen Kelley at (609) 655-5946.
While at the Cranbury Museum on Cranbury Day, don’t be surprised if you bump into Benjamin Franklin. Dave Bennett of the American Historical Theatre will portray Ben at the Museum from noon to 2 p.m. Meeting, greeting and mingling, Ben will entertain visitors with his well-known wit and wisdom.
Here’s some news about former Cranbury Neck Road residents Nancy and Joe Lee Frank. The Frank’s moved to Denville a couple of years ago to be near Lee’s job. Nancy, a gifted craftsperson, found work as a potter at historic Waterloo Village in Stanhope.
Now the Frank’s are on the move again, this time to Round Hill, Va. near Leesburg. Frank will be working for CAE US Marine Systems, and Nancy hopes to find another job as a potter at Harper’s Ferry, W Va., where a 19th century business district is being re-created.
