LISA TUOHY PETERMANN, 42, of Union Beach died Oct. 27 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, she lived in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown prior to moving to Union Beach 16 years ago. She was the delicatessen manager at A&P Supermarket, Tinton Falls, for the past five years. She was a past president of the Memorial School PTA, Union Beach, a member of the Union Beach Soccer Association, a member of the Union Beach Drug Alliance, and a leader of Girl Scout Troop No. 832. She is survived by her son and daughter, Dennis Petermann and Amanda Petermann, both of Union Beach; her fiancé, Timothy Brewer of Union Beach; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Jeannie Tuohy of Stillwater, Gerard and Wendy Tuohy of Port Monmouth, and Keith and Kim Tuohy of Keyport; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jim Farrance of the Belford section of Middletown; her mother, Marilyn Jagielski Tuohy of Port Monmouth; and her father, Dennis Tuohy of Port Monmouth. A funeral gathering will be held Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. JOHN V. ACKERMAN, 78, of Aberdeen died Sept. 23 at home. Born in Orange, he resided in Bloomfield for several years prior to moving to Aberdeen 40 years ago. He was a national sales manager at Myers, Incorporated, Lincoln, Ill., for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served as a Navy intelligence officer afterward until his discharge in 1959. He is survived by his wife, Helen Ann Ewossa Ackerman of Aberdeen; his daughter, Catherine V. Ackerman; two sons, John C. Ackerman, and Christopher J. Ackerman; his sister, Rose O’Mahoney; his brother, Thomas J. Ackerman; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan.

WINFIELD C. "PETE" RHOADS, 87, of Middletown died Oct. 14 at home. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he resided in Middletown the past 24 years. He was a retired executive at All State Insurance, North Brook, Ill., for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Priska H. Wurtz Rhoads of Middletown; his son, Charles G. Rhoads of North Carolina; two daughters, Winifred Fourre of Paris, Ky., and Prisca Tierney of Avalon; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. MICHAEL F. GLEASON, 71, of Hazlet died Oct. 21 at home. Born in Hoboken, he lived there until moving to Hazlet 43 years ago. He was a vice president at Chemical Bank, New York City, for 42 years, retiring in 1993. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, where he was also a Eucharistic minister, lector, usher and CCD teacher; as well as a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the American Legion, Holmdel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia McLaughlin Gleason of Hazlet; four sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Esther Gleason III of Hawaii, Robert and Patricia Gleason of Tenn., John and Nancy Gleason of Berlin Township, and James and Rachel Gleason of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Eugene Balestriere of Middletown, and Kathleen and Michael Alexander of Hazlet; and 19 grandchildren. ANTOINETTE M. BEVACQUA FUGARO, 80, of Hazlet died Oct. 24 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Middletown prior to moving to Hazlet 10 years ago. She was a bookkeeper at Goldman DeLorenzo Real Estate, Hoboken, for 14 years, retiring in 1977. She and her late husband were also owners and operators of Nick’s Confectionery, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, from 1952-57. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas M. Fugaro Sr. in 1962. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Francine Fugaro Jr. of Freehold; her brother, Joseph X. Bevacqua of Jersey City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.

EVELYN R. ABRAMS, 83, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, died Oct. 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in North Dakota, she resided in Belmar prior to moving to Cliffwood 47 years ago. She was a retired self-employed seamstress. She was a member of and Sunday school teacher at Matawan United Methodist Church, Aberdeen. She was a member of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, North Arlington. She was predeceased by her son, Harry Abrams Jr. in 1974. She is survived by her husband, Harry Abrams Sr. of Cliffwood; three daughters, Karen Lubeck of Arizona, Barbara Ann Zara of Jackson, and Mary Lynn Kazulen of Freehold; her brother Donald Rohde of North Dakota; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. EUGENIA O’CONNOR, 79, of Staten Island, N.Y., died Oct. 11 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice. Surviving are two daughters, Maureen O’Connor Leach of Freehold Township and Joyce O’Connor of Staten Island; a sister, Vera Balardi; and six grandchildren, David, Allison, Brendan, Meredith, Kelly and Caitlin. A Mass was offered Tuesday at St. Christopher’s Church, Staten Island. Interment was at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.

FRANK SNYDER JR., 50, of Manalapan died Oct. 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Camp Gordon, Ga., he lived in Flemington before moving to Manalapan 19 years ago. He was a self-employed residential cleaner. He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Alfred W. Schlechtweg Jr., at home; two daughters, Sheri Snyder of Coaldale, Pa., and Valerie Hodson; his parents, Frank and Charlotte Snyder Sr. of Dover, Del.; three brothers, Gene of Bridgewater, Karl of Bath, Pa., and Herbie of Dover, Del.; three sisters, Charlotte Everett, Cindy Gustin and Brenda Missing, all of Delaware; and three grandchildren. MARY LARKIN, 90, of Manalapan died Oct. 17 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Passaic, she had lived in Newark before moving to Manalapan in 1955. She was a former communicant of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her husband, George; and three brothers, Michael Kucher, and John and Theodore Kuchar. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment was held at St. Michael’s United Catholic Greek Rite Cemetery, South Hackensack.

EDMUND BROWN JR., 73, of Freehold died Oct. 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Fort Valley, Ga., he lived in Freehold for more than 30 years. He was a trainer and custodian at Freehold Raceway, Freehold, before his retirement five years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Cooper Brown; a son and daughter-in-law, Edmund W. and Elizabeth Brown III of Orlando, Fla.; three stepchildren, Frederick Lee Griffith of Freehold, Fannie Griffith of Manchester Township and Anita Joyner-Holmes of Lakewood; a sister, Rosa Sanders of Fort Valley; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces nephews, extended family and friends. Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

HELEN MICA, 89, of Freehold Township died Oct. 18 at home. Born in Philadelphia, she lived in Lithuania before moving to Freehold in 1927. She was a seamstress for the Polchak Clothing Factory, Freehold, for 15 years, retiring 26 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, George Sr., in 1993. She is survived by a son, George A. Jr., at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene Fortier-Hood and James Hood of Pueblo, Colo., and Constance and John Weighell of Colts Neck; two brothers, Mechis and Edward Burkevicius, and a sister, Regina Kuzovinene, all of Lithuania; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

EDWARD H. MOHR, 81, of Freehold died Oct. 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Philadelphia, he had been a resident of Freehold for the past 75 years. Mr. Mohr was a partner in Chaffey Rug, and operated Campbell Carpet, Manasquan, and Rug-A-Rama, Neptune. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European theater of operations during World War II. He was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold; a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Olive Branch Lodge No. 16, Free and Accepted Masons, Freehold; a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Freehold, and a member and instructor for the National Rifle Association. Mr. Mohr was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Mabel McKendry Mohr, in 1997. He is survived by 12 nephews and nieces, and many friends. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. PATRICIA A. TAYLOR, 66, of Ocean Township died Oct. 21 at home. She resided in Elmwood Park prior to moving to Ocean Township six years ago. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for the Monmouth County ASPCA, Tinton Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Taylor, in 1981. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Taylor of Floral City, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dawn D’Agostino-Cheski and Ken Cheski of Manalapan, and Barbara Taylor of Whitehouse Station; and four grandchildren.

CHARLES F. KNIFFIN JR., 47, of Freehold Township died Oct. 22 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., he lived in Laurence Harbor before moving to Freehold Township three years ago. He was a truck driver for Jon Mar Trucking, Old Bridge. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975 and attained the rank of lance corporal. He is survived by three sons, Christopher and John, both of Virginia, and Charles of Michigan; his parents, Helen and Charles F. Kniffin Sr. of Oakdale, Neb.; a brother, John, with whom he lived; and two sisters, Helen Travisano and Linda Kniffin, both of Nebraska.

CATHERINE LAICO, 88, of Freehold Township died Oct. 22. Born in Ohio, she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and in Farmingdale before moving to Freehold Township. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, August, in 1998; and a son, John, in 1985. She is survived by three sons, Paul, Thomas and William; a daughter, Rosemary Cioffi; and five grandchildren. The funeral service was held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
