BlueClaws set 2003 schedule; home opener set for April 10

The Lakewood BlueClaws will begin their third season at FirstEnergy Park on April 10 against Greensboro.

The Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies announced its 2003 schedule. The season-opener will be at Lexington (Ky.) for the first time in the BlueClaws’ three seasons on April 3.

The team’s longest home stand is in June, running from the 7th to the 20th. During the month of June, the BlueClaws will play division rivals the Delmarva ShoreBirds and the Hagerstown Suns 18 times on the road and at home. On the schedule are 11 Friday, 11 Saturday and 10 Sunday dates.

"With 32 weekend dates, we’re very pleased with the schedule we received from the South Atlantic League," said BlueClaws general manager Geoff Brown. "We’re looking forward to providing great family entertainment along the Jersey Shore again in 2003."

In 2003, the BlueClaws have six weekday games, including five starting at 12:05 p.m. and a 10:05 a.m. start on May 6.

Weeknight games in April and May will be at 6:35, with night games in May starting at 7:05. Weekend day games in April and May will start at 1:05. After Memorial Day, all home night games begin at 7:05.
