Pennington announces leaf collection guidelines

Councilman makes announcement

Pennington Borough residents of Main Street and Delaware and Ingleside Avenues, which are county roads, can have leaves picked up by the borough Public Works Department if they put them in plastic bags, borough Councilman David Garber said during Monday night’s council meeting.
He said the borough will continue its longstanding practice of pressuring Mercer County to pick up leaves from Main Street and Delaware and Ingleside avenues in a more timely fashion.
Residents of streets other than Main, Delaware and Ingleside are not required to put their leaves in bags in order to have them picked up by the borough, said Mr. Garber, council member in charge of public works.
However, other regulations on leaves pertain to residents who need not put them in bags. Those residents should put their leaves in the street along the curb in long rows. Leaves containing brush, grass clippings or sticks will not be picked up.
Public works will pick up leaves three times a week, Mr. Garber said.
