Obituaries

JOYCE J. BAKER of Millstone died Nov. 8 at home. Born in Elizabeth, she had been a resident of Millstone for seven years. Mrs. Baker was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker, Princeton Junction. She and her husband had owned Golden State Systems Inc. in San Luis Obispo, Calif., for 14 years. She was a graduate of Battin High School, Elizabeth, and the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, William J. Baker; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathryn Wood, and Judith and Carl Scharite, all of New Egypt; her father, G. Curtis Jamison of Monroe; and five grandchildren. The Rev. Gregory Bruton, pastor of Emley’s Hill United Methodist Church, officiated at the funeral service, which was followed by interment in Emley’s Hill Cemetery, Cream Ridge.

RUTH SMITH, 75, of Millstone died Nov. 7 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Cream Ridge, Upper Freehold, she was a lifelong resident of Upper Freehold and Millstone. Mrs. Smith was employed at the Cream Ridge post office for more than 30 yeas. She was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Sphinx Chapter No. 130, New Egypt; and volunteered for Angels’ Wings at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard A. Smith. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James A. and Linda Smith of Imlaystown, and William A. and Carolyn Smith of Allentown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean S. and Alvin Philpet of Lawrence, and Susan Mains of Mercerville; a sister, Joan Sculthrope of Cream Ridge; three grandchildren; and two grandchildren of the heart. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.

DORIS B. PERRINE, 89, of the Tennent section of Manalapan died Nov. 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold, she been a resident of Tennent for the past 66 years. Mrs. Perrine was a 50-year member of Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, Tennent. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan, in 1992. Surviving are a son, David D. of Shamong; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn E. and Ed Farrell of Brick, and Diane and Bob Cain of Millstone; and four grandchildren. The funeral service was held at Old Tennent Church, followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
