The board of governors of the Shrewsbury Chorale has announced the appointment of Anthony LaGruth as music director and conductor of the chorale.
LaGruth is currently artistic director and conductor of the Garden State Philharmonic and chorus, and music director and conductor of the Ridgewood Singers.
The resident of Bogota attended the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors, Hancock, Maine, where he was a conducting fellow.
He is also on staff at the school and is a member of the board of directors of the Conductors Guild.
LaGruth received a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from Ithaca College, New York, and a bachelor’s degree in music composition from Montclair State University, Upper Montclair.
