Timberbrook triathlon results announced

The Monmouth County Park System has announced the results of its Timberbrook triathlon held at the Manasquan Reservoir, Howell.

The event consisted of a two-mile canoe/kayak, a four-mile mountain-bike ride, and a three-mile run. It drew 114 athletes, competing alone or in teams.

Among the local participants, Eileen Murphy, Red Bank, placed first in the category of solo kayak women, 50 and older, at 1:30:48.2.

Placing sixth in the category of solo kayak male, age 30-39, was Gordon Haskell, Fair Haven, with a time of 1:05:35.3. Kevin Frost, Red Bank, placed 12th in the same category, with a time of 1:12:13.2.

Adrian Harris, Oceanport, placed third in the category of solo kayak male, age 40-49, at 1:02:29.2. Paul Eidman, Tinton Falls, placed ninth in the same category, with a time of 1:15:30.1, and John Verilli, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, came in 13th at 1:23:00.2

Jennifer Kane, Rumson, came in second in the category of solo kayak women, age 30-39, with a time of 1:15:54.4. Melinda Brenner, Long Branch, placed fifth in the same category at a time of 1:26:57.6. Kerry Chandler, Rumson, came in fourth in the category of solo kayak women, age 40-49, at 1:17:18.2.

Placing first in the team competition in the category of team mixed canoe, age 40-59, was the Red Bank team of McDonnell, Fannin, Comey-Zampella, with a time of 1:19:46.1 The Red Bank team of Trembley, Cichy and Illis placed fifth in the category of team canoe male, age 40-59, with a time of 1:15:13.1.
