On behalf of my running mate, the late Franklin V. Fischer, and myself, I would like to express our deepest appreciation to the voters of Ocean County.
I was deeply moved to see Franklin win, as it was a fitting, final tribute to an extraordinary man who dedicated more than five decades of public and civic service to the county.
We will miss the enthusiasm for which Franklin was known. He does leave a special legacy through his passion for music.
We will be reminded of it, as the notes from the many outdoor concerts he helped initiate drift across the county each summer.
As for me, I am indebted to all those who participated in the election.
More than ever, we value how precious this process is to our freedom.
To those of you who voted for me, you have given me the incentive to serve you well.
To those who did not vote for me, you have provided me with the challenge to do better.
