Holiday events at Poricy Park begin Dec. 13

Poricy Park Nature Center, Oak Hill Road, Middletown will present "Holiday Bedtime Stories Dec. 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Murray farmhouse. The cost is $7, and $5 for members. Children may wear pajamas but are encouraged to dress warmly.

A gingerbread workshop, "Holiday Houses," will be held at the nature center Dec. 15 from 1-3 p.m. The fee is $25, $18 for members, and includes the house to be decorated. A free winter solstice self-guided nature hike will take place Dec. 22 from 1-2:30 p.m. and will commence at the center. The park’s 13th annual open house and candlelight reception is scheduled for Dec. 29 from 4-6 p.m. The free event will be held at the farmhouse.

MCHA’s ‘Family Holiday Party’ to be Dec. 15

The Monmouth County Historical Association (MCHA) will host its annual "Family Holiday Party" Dec. 15 from 1-4 p.m. at Taylor-Butler House, 127 Kings Highway, Middletown.

Donation is $25 per family or $10 per individual. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and maintenance of the house, as well as the association’s other properties. The event will feature holiday craft workshops, musical entertainment by the Mistletones, cookies, cider and caroling.

‘Parish Advent Mission’ at church Dec. 15-17

The Church of Saint Catherine of Middletown will hold a "Parish Advent Mission" with Franciscan Friar Rev. Claude Lenehan, Dec. 15-17 at 7 p.m.

A penance service will be Dec. 15, a mission service will be Dec. 16, and a closing Mass will be Dec. 17.

‘Peace on Earth’ free discussion Dec. 16

The Monmouth Center for World Religions and Ethical Thought will present the discussion "Peace on Earth: Giving Peace a Good Name" Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The free discussion will be held at the Unitarian Universality Meeting House, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft section of Middletown. Coordinators will be Milton Ziment, Walter Geldart and Isabelle McFarland.

Singer/songwriters to perform concert Dec. 15
