VERONICA YANKOWSKI Officials examine the scene of a fatal one-vehicle crash that occurred on Route 9 near Stanley Boulevard and Interstate 195 in Howell at 12:08 p.m. Dec. 13. Police said Joseph Cruz, 46, of the Avenel section of Woodbridge was killed in the accident when his car, which was heading north on Route 9, went off the road and struck a tree. An investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
