RED BANK — It is that time of year again, and the students at Tower Hill School brought some holiday cheer to a room full of senior citizens at the Tower Hill Chapel.

In a long-standing tradition at the school, students in kindergarten through third grade filed into the auditorium, filling the bleachers and lining the stage, to sing holiday and traditional songs at the "Young At Heart" senior luncheon.

Parents and grandparents of the students lined the walls of the auditorium to watch them sing. The children, many of whom wore red or green in the spirit of the Christmas season, sang approximately 11 songs.

"About 50 kids are singing," said Susan deBrigard, school director.

Music teacher Lauren Badal also sang two solos.

Jeanne MacLeod of Manchester, a parishioner and guest at the luncheon, enjoyed the performance.

"It’s refreshing to us old folks to see them sing," said MacLeod.

Young at Heart, an outreach program for senior citizens run by Tower Hill Church, meets on the second Friday of each month. Lunch, entertainment and educational sessions are provided.

Tower Hill Primary School is a nonprofit, nonsectarian school with grade levels kindergarten, pre-first, first, second and third grades.

"Individualized instruction and a commitment to small class size are key to the primary school’s philosophy," according to a recent press release issued by the school.

"It is a co-op," said Ann Baumlin Carey, publicity chairman for the school. "For the younger grades, parents help out in the classes."

The school is holding an open house Jan. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m.
