Litterbugs leave ugly mark on environment

Kudos to Bruce Brickman in Manalapan for shedding light on his area’s litter problem. Unfortunately, this issue is not exclusive to Manal-apan. Has anyone traveled Route 79 in Marlboro or Freehold lately? It’s disgusting and getting worse. We can only imagine what the homes of these wonderful litter-tossers look like.

Dear Litter Tossers: Perhaps in your homes it’s OK to toss garbage or a cigarette wherever you please. It certainly seems acceptable to toss it from a car window. Do your vehicles not have ash trays? If you’re looking to start a brush fire, you’re on track.

The respectable thing to do would be to utilize your ash tray and keep your trash in your car until you can dispose of it properly.

Incidentally, when you’re finished with your coffee or take-out, your trash does not magically find its way to the garbage can. Please don’t leave it next to your car.

Have some respect for yourself, your neighbors and the environment in which you live. This kind of behavior is the epitome of laziness. Mr. Brickman was dead-on when he stated that people that don’t respect themselves will rarely respect the environment. So much for Monmouth County being one of the best places to live. It’s turning into a dumping ground thanks to our trash-tossing neighbors.
