VITO WILLIAM ANCONA, 79, of North Brunswick died March 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was the retired manager of the North Brunswick Sanitation Department. Surviving are his former wife, Elizabeth Caccioppo Ancona of North Brunswick; two sons, William Ancona of Piscataway and Stephen Ancona of Huntersville, N.C.; a brother, Fred Ancona of East Brunswick; and one granddaughter. A funeral service was held at Chapel of Serenity Mausoleum, Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.

FRANCES ELKES BRODSKY, 86, of South River died March 3 in Somerset Manor North, Somerset section of Franklin. Surviving are a son, Barry Brodsky of Monroe; a daughter, Linda Lyons of East Brunswick; two brothers, Sidney Elkes of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and Howard Elkes of California; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at Beth Israel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.

MARILYN CORTEN TOVAY, 54, of South River died March 8 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Robert Tovay; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Tovay of South River; a son, Robert Tovay Jr. of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; her mother, Grace Corten of Brick; a brother, William P. Corten of the Toms River section of Dover; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.

SELMA C. BAKAN LESSER, 87, of Monroe died March 4 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Her first husband, Bernard Lesser, died in 1984, and her second husband, Morris Shapiro, died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Gerald Lesser of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Judith Zone of East Brunswick; two brothers, David Bakan of Toronto and Paul Bakan of Vancouver, British Columbia; a sister, Cynthia Blynn of Willow Grove, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. EVELYN McCRORY MADIGAN, 68, of Spotswood died March 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She once worked in the deli section at ShopRite of Spotswood. Her husband, Bernard J., died in 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen B. Madigan of Spotswood; a son, Lawrence N. Madigan of Spotswood; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. Graveside services were held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

OLGA MARCHUZIN, 79, of South River died March 8 in Carriage House Manor, Sayreville. Her husband, Jacob Marchuzin, died in 1996. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Center, South River.

MARY A. TEZYK MARKULIC, 82, of South River died March 3 at home. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1962. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Kucsma of the Franklin Park section of Franklin; a son, Gary of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Joseph Tezyk of South River; a sister, Josephine Figura, also of South River; and four grandchildren. CELIA ULAR SHEPSKO, 90, of East Brunswick died March 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Paul Shepsko, died in 1963. Surviving are three sons, Edward of North Brunswick, Paul of East Brunswick and Eugene of Spotswood; a sister, Edna Ejk of South River; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

ESTELLE E. VALONE SUPER, 90, of Milltown died March 4 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and by a granddaughter, Catherine Gschwend. Surviving are four daughters, Catherine Gschwend of East Brunswick, Estelle Pagano of Milltown, Mary Diem of South River and Linda Bezek of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; a son, Frank Super of East Brunswick; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

DIANE FILA SZABO, 48, of Allentown, Pa., died March 3 at home. Surviving are her husband, William D. Szabo of East Brunswick; a son, William D. Szabo, and a daughter, Barbara Lynn Szabo, both of East Brunswick; and two sisters, Audrey and Sandra. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

GEORGE E. SHULER, 71, of South Amboy died Feb. 26 at home. He was a founding member of the South Amboy Irish-American Association, where he served as treasurer for the past 25 years. Surviving are two sisters, Alice Coman of South Amboy and Margaret Gould of Indianapolis; 15 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

JOSEPHINE DRYJA ZALESKI, 93, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Feb. 26 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Zaleski; two sons, Joseph S. Zaleski and Richard Zaleski; two daughters, Mary Bunsick and Margaret Zaleski; and a grandson, William S. Zaleski. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Irene Zaleski of Parlin; a daughter-in-law, Toni Zaleski Brominski of Perth Amboy; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Parlin.

BERTHA M. STANWYCK, 76, of North Brunswick died March 2 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Belleville, she resided in New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick in 1969. She was a member of the North Brunswick Senior Center. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Anthony Stanwyck of North Brunswick; two daughters and one son-in-law, Robin Kahora of North Brunswick, and Karen and Ed Liebhauser of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sons, Robert Stanwyck of North Brunswick, and Gordon Stanwyck of Milltown; a brother, Harry Mueller of Belleville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. FRANCES C. MASON HAMMEL, 92, of Old Bridge died March 6 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Albert Hammel, died in 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Arlene F. Otnisky of Old Bridge and Edith Hughes of East Brunswick; a son, Charles Hammel of Piscataway; a brother, Charles Mason of Linden; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

STEVEN J. EPSTEIN, 21, of the Parlin section of Old Bridge died March 8 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a 2000 graduate of Old Bridge High School and had attended Middlesex County College, Edison. He was employed as a check processor with First Union Bank, North Brunswick. Surviving are his parents, Richard J. and Carolyn Mileto Epstein, with whom he lived; two brothers, Michael and Christopher Epstein, both of Parlin; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Kitty Epstein of Tamarac, Fla. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

GARY JOHN BRECK, 47, of Manasquan, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 5 at home. Surviving are his mother, Marie Hosle Breck of East Brunswick; a brother, Wayne Breck of Old Bridge; two sisters, Donna Breck of Manalapan and Laura Breck of Dunellen; a niece; and his companion, Evelyn Mihok. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was private.

STELLA ZAMBROSKI WEBER, 80, of South River died March 9 in Old Bridge Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry A., and by two sons, Henry J. and William. Surviving are many friends. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
