Residents of Milltown should use all legal means vs. Wendy’s
I read with interest your editorial in the March 13 issue of the Sentinel concerning the proposed Wendy’s on Ryders Lane. I have previously written that I agree with the Milltown residents’ plight. They should oppose this to the bitter end.
We all agree that Ryders Lane has become congested. There are shopping centers after shopping centers. That’s been done. Get over it.
What I disagree with is your editorial attitude. Your implication is that because the Borough Council’s action may bring a lawsuit by Wendy’s and that "we’re forced to wonder whether such action will stand up in court" means that the appeal should be dropped.
As long as the legal process is available, one can’t give up just because we think it may not hold up in court. I believe the Milltown council should finally be applauded for saying we have one piece of land left, let’s try to put it to a better use.
One suggestion may be a small office building for a professional services kind of company (lawyer, doctor, dentist, etc.).
In the meantime, I hope the residents oppose the plan until every legal means is exhausted.
