Issue call for candidates

Call for candidates — The association invites local residents to consider running for public office in Hopewell Township and Hopewell and Pennington boroughs.
Marcia Bridger, association vice president, announces the following vacancies this year on the three municipal governing bodies:
Hopewell Township — one seat on the Township Committee; Hopewell Borough — mayor and one seat on Borough Council; Pennington Borough — two seats on Borough Council and one seat on the Republican County Committee.
Any resident interested in finding out about the opportunities for public service in Hopewell Valley is invited to call Mrs. Bridger at 466-2038. The petition filing deadline for the primary election is April 7.
Spring breakfast — The association will host its annual Spring Breakfast on April 5, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., at H. I. Rib & Co., Route 31, Hopewell Township.
Sen. Leonard Lance, who served Hopewell Valley for a decade in the state’s General Assembly, will be the honored guest.
Sen. Lance — a Lehigh graduate who earned a J.D. at Vanderbilt University and an M.P.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs — is a full-time legislator. He once represented Hopewell Valley in the General Assembly from 1991-2001, when he was elected to the Senate from the 23rd Legislative District.
Breakfast tickets are $16 and may be purchased in advance by sending a check payable to "HVRA" to Erwin Harbat, HVRA, PO Box 178, Pennington, 08534.
Tickets will be held at the door.
