VIRGINIA McKENNA, 84, of Tinton Falls died April 10 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. Born in Union City, she resided in Hoboken, Matawan, and in Keyport for 20 years before moving to Tinton Falls. She was a retired dining room hostess at Ye Cottage Inn, Keyport, and Buttonwood Manor, Matawan. Prior to that, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and First National City Bank, New York City. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a devoted mother and wife, and committed to her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur McKenna, in 1968, and a brother, Francis McBride. She is survived by her son, Ronald McKenna of Farmington, Conn.; her daughter, Susan Mack of the Morganville section of Marlboro; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. MARY JANE ROEMER, 90, of Red Bank died April 9 at Navesink House, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there and in Middletown before moving to Red Bank seven years ago. Mrs. Roemer was a teacher at the Brooklyn Diocese for more than 20 years before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She also was involved in the communities of her residence, Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, and Navesink House. Mrs. Roemer was predeceased by her brother, Andrew Dalton. She is survived by her son, Frederick J. Roemer of Rumson; her sister, Rose Ann Nicoletti of Lynbrook, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery Mausoleum, Fairfield.
JEAN DOOLING MINNICK, 73, of Middletown died April 9 at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City. Born in Sayreville, she resided in South Amboy before moving to Middletown 20 years ago. Mrs. Minnick was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a former member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. She was predeceased by a brother, John Dooling, in 1973. She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Minnick of Middletown; three sons, Frank Minnick of Shrewsbury, John Minnick of Middletown, and Thomas Minnick of Howell; a daughter, Kathy Fowler of Shrewsbury; and nine grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
CONCETTA L. "CONNIE" LONGETTE, 79, of Aberdeen died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. Mrs. Longette was a homemaker, and a saleswoman at Westridge Clothing, Keyport, for nine years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas J. Longette, in 1999; and a grandson, John Longette, in 2001. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Salvatore and Florence Longette of Middletown, Thomas and Elizabeth Longette of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Robert Longette of Aberdeen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Mathews of Holmdel, and Bernadette and Bill Spafford of Aberdeen; her sister, Ann Thompson of Long Branch; her sister-in-law, Christine Maletto of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral service was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
WALTER R. STABBERT, 82, of Middletown died March 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Germany, he had been a resident of Middletown since 1954. Mr. Stabbert was a construction supervisor at Washington Construction, Princeton, for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He was also the former owner of the Knickerbocker Hotel, Keansburg. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown, and a member of the German Society of Long Branch. Mr. Stabbert was predeceased by his wife, Hildegard Stabbert, in 1993. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gerd and Marie Stabbert of Middletown, and Richard Stabbert of Red Bank; his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Clifford Karpo of Middletown; two brothers, Siegfried Stabbert of Albany, N.Y., and Hans Stabbert of Cologne, Germany; five grandchildren; and his stepson. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
EVELYN WILSON of Freehold Township died March 29 at Avante at Red Bank Care Center, Red Bank. Born in Linden, she lived in Matawan before moving to Freehold 37 years ago. She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Freehold Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kelly Wilson of New Milford, Conn.; two sisters, Dorothy Hultfeldt of Springhill, Fla., and Mary Ann Taylor of New Jersey. Entombment was at Atlantic View Cemetery, Brielle.
ELSIE MARY BURDICK, 96, of Matawan died April 12 at Bayshore Health Center, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she resided in Athens, Ga., before moving to Matawan 24 years ago. Mrs. Burdick was an assistant to the chief accountant for the State of New Jersey for 22 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport, and a member of the Cheesequake Seniors. Mrs. Burdick was predeceased by her husband, Harry Burdick, in 1977. She is survived by her daughter, June Falco of Aberdeen; two sons, John Thoden of Delaware and Donald Burdick of Hartwell, Ga.; her sister, Alma Belben of Patchogue, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Interment was at Monmouth Memorial Park, Neptune.
FAITH M. TROMER OLIVER, 78, of Middletown died April 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she resided there before moving to Middletown 36 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, William Oliver, in 1994. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William T. and Jeane Oliver Jr. of Middletown; her daughter, Judy Levesque of Middletown; her brother, Albert Tromer of Oceanview; her sister, Florence Campbell of Staten Island; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
