Presidential hopeful Dean gets Princeton fund-raiser

Democratic presidential hopeful and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean will attend a fund-raiser in Princeton on Sunday.
The event will be at the home of Peter and Wendy Benchley, 35 Boudinot St. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and concludes at 7 p.m.
Gov. Dean, who is also a physician, is among nine candidates vying for the Democratic nomination.
A committee of over 60 local Democrats decided to back Gov. Dean for his proposals supporting universal health care and opposing President George W. Bush’s foreign policy of pre-emptive strikes, such as the war in Iraq, Ms. Benchley said.
"He was the only presidential candidate who was willing to take a stand against this administration’s first-strike foreign policy," she said.
The cost to attend the gathering is $250 per person.
An earlier gathering with Gov. Dean will be held at the Princeton Township home of Kate and Robert Del Tufo at 4:15 p.m. The reception costs $1,000 per person and includes attendance at the Benchley event.
