Nominations sought for
board member of year

The Middlesex County School Boards Association (MCSBA) is now accepting nominations for Middlesex County School Board Member of the Year. The award will be presented to a Middlesex County school board member who best exemplifies leadership in the field of education and in his or her commitment to the children of Middlesex County.

The county association is an organization of more than 200 school board members who serve 110,000 public school children in Middlesex County. It assists board members by providing educational programs in areas such as curriculum, budget, legislation, teacher negotiations and school safety, and it offers frequent opportunities for local board leaders to exchange ideas and information with others in Middlesex County.

The award will be presented at the annual Middlesex County School Boards Association Spring Dinner set for June 4. The winner will receive a certificate and a $100 check for his or her district to be used as he or she designates.

To qualify for consideration, a board member must have completed at least three years of membership on the local board. Nominations may be submitted by board members, administrators, teachers, support staff or community members.

The following materials must be submitted to support the candidacy and will form the criteria for selection:

• evidence of leadership on the local, county or state level;

• evidence of specific service to the local district and board-related self-improvement (attendance at in-service programs, seminars, etc.);

• a statement describing the member’s unique contribution to the board and to the district.

Completed nominations, which must be received by May 12, should be sent to Middlesex County School Boards Association, 225 Gordons Corner Road, Suite 1-H, Manalapan, 07726. Nominations may also be faxed to MCSBA at (732) 446-1125.
