MARTIN A. KANOWITZ, 73, of Jackson died April 22 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Jackson for the past 13 years. He was a butcher for Waldbaums in Brooklyn, N.Y., for more than 40 years, retiring in 1994. He was involved in the Seniors Who Care organization of Jackson, and the choral group in the Winding Ways development in Jackson. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Myrna; a son and daughter-in-law, Ira and Michele Kanowitz of Marlboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Neal Mintz of Perrineville; a brother, Bernard Kanowitz of Florida; a sister, Shirley Rosenthal of Florida; and seven grandchildren. Interment was in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y.

MARY CATHERINE REILLY, 95, of Lakewood died April 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Holmdel and lived in Atlantic Highlands for 37 years, in Tomaso Plaza Seniors Residence in Middletown for 11 years, and in Lakewood for three years. She was a store clerk at Sidney Heifetz Franklin Stores, Atlantic Highlands. She was a former communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands, and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Reilly II, in 1965. Surviving are three sons, James Reilly III of Navesink, John Reilly, with whom she lived in Lakewood, and Thomas Reilly of Sewell; two daughters, Teresa Eldridge of Cream Ridge, and Patricia Koeser of Mount Pocano, Pa.; a brother, John Bennett; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, 08533.
