Cancer society plans June 3 golf tournament

The American Cancer Society will hold its 23rd annual golf championship on June 3 at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe.

Registration, including a continental breakfast, will open at 7 a.m. An 8 a.m. shotgun start will follow.

Cocktails and lunch will be served from 1-3 p.m.

Fee is $325 and includes greens and golf cart fees, player gifts, continental breakfast and lunch reception after the tournament.

The outing will follow a Callaway format; soft spikes are mandatory.

Each golfer will receive a pair of golf shoes. Participants also may try their luck at winning a chance to play at prestigious courses as part of the "Dream Day of Golf" raffle.

Chances cost $10 each; the winner need not be present.

Proceeds from the event will help to support lifesaving American Cancer Society research, as well as education, advocacy and patient service programs in Central New Jersey.

The top two teams in each flight at the event will have the opportunity to advance to the state championship slated for Sept. 4 at Royce Brook Golf Club, Hillsborough.

The top team in each flight at Royce Brook will then advance to the American Cancer Society Golf Championship, set for Oct. 17 and 18 at the PGA National Resort and Spa, West Palm Beach, Fla.
