GERTRUDE J. WOECKENER KERN, 78, of South Amboy died May 9 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, George F. Kern Sr.; a son, George F. Kern III of South Amboy; a daughter, Frieda Trabalka of South Amboy; a sister, Joan Muller of Pompton Plains; and four grandsons. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. ARTHUR JOSEPH DELMOTTE, 69, of Sayreville died May 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Surviving are his wife, Marie Joann Hemstreet Delmotte; a daughter, Marie A. Nieratko of Sayreville; two sons, Arthur Delmotte of Sayreville and Edward A. Delmotte of Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Green of the Iselin section of Woodbridge and Peggy Basile of Lewis, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were private. Arrangements were under the direction of Cremation Services of Central New Jersey, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

HAROLD P. EVANS, 85, of Manchester, formerly of South Amboy, died May 5. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed for 30 years by Suburban Propane, Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge. He was a former member of the South Amboy Housing Authority. Surviving are his wife, Jean Good Evans; a daughter, Louise Eisner of Brick; a son, Harold Evans of Waverly, N.Y.; a grandson; and a great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in the church mausoleum.

ROBERT R. BRESS, 74, of Old Bridge and Matawan died May 8 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Bress; two sons, Robert Bress of Windsor, Conn., and Kevin Bress of Old Bridge; a daughter, Terri Smith of Old Bridge; a brother, Joseph Bress of Florida; a sister, Dorothy Henderson of Queens, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. GRACE L. QUACKENBUSH VOGEL, 91, of Old Bridge died May 9 in Fountain View Care Center, Lakewood. She began her ca­reer as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in the former Madison Township, now Old Bridge Township. After 45 years as a schoolteacher, she retired in 1976. Her hus­band, Henry, died in 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Marion Hettwer of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Anita Smith of Old Bridge; a son, Edward Vogel of New Hope, Pa.; five grand­children; and 10 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. ARTHUR J. CHAMBERS, 82, of Sayreville died May 8 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Emily Depula Chambers, died in 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Ruge of Monroe, Doris Novello of Sayreville and Theresa Force of the Browns Mills section of Pemberton; two sons, Steven Wands of the Colonia section of Woodbridge and Robert Chambers of Howell; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Mass was of­fered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.

VALERIE LAZARCZYK PIRINT, 86, of East Brunswick died May 9 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, John M., died in 1991. Surviving are two daughters, Marie Pirint of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Barbara Heiry of Spotswood; a brother, John Lazarczyk of Milltown; a sister, Pearl Bellan of the Parlin section of Sayreville; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. THOMAS M. LANGAN, 62, of Sayreville, formerly of the Madison Park sec­tion of Old Bridge, died May 12 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Surviving are his wife, Karen Treubert Langan; a son, Michael T. Langan of East Brunswick; two daughters, Kellie Ann Walenciak of Westfield and Jean Langan of Sayreville; three broth­ers, Robert Langan of Old Bridge, Gerald Langan of Scranton, Pa., and John Langan of Dunmore, Pa.; three sisters, Helen Casey of Old Forge, Pa., Debra Langan of Edison and Rose Dowgiallo of St. Louis; and four grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on May 15 at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Private cremation will fol­low.

JOHN F. HART, 75, of South Brunswick, for­merly of South River, died May 8 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was an operator at Hercules, Parlin section of Sayreville, for nine years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he worked at Carter-Wallace Inc., Cranbury, and at Chicopee, Milltown, where he was em­ployed for 27 years. Surviving are his wife, Emilie Sieczkowski Hart; two sons, John Hart of the Perrineville section of Millstone and Jeffry Hart of North Brunswick; two sisters, Irene Hart of the Toms River section of Dover and Joan Carney of the Brick Town section of Brick; and four grand­children. A funeral liturgy was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.

DONALD FREDRICKS, 57, of Edison died May 12 in Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation Center, Lakewood. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn. Surviving are his mother, Cecelia Fredricks; three sons, Donald Fredricks Jr. and Scott Fredricks, both of the Toms River section of Dover, and Robert Fredricks of Woodbridge; two daughters, Kelly Fredricks of Toms River and Gail Fredricks of Elizabeth; four brothers, Clifford Fredricks of Old Bridge, Paul Fredricks of Pennsville, Richard Fredricks of Sayreville and Glenn Fredricks of Spotswood; five sisters, Eunice Greeley of Old Bridge, Claire Gabel of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, Barbara Critchley of Lakewood, Gail Higgins of Edison and Audrey Motusesky of East Brunswick; and one granddaughter. A Mass is planned for 11 a.m. on May 15 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

DOROTHY OLGA HAMARICH SZALLAI, 78, of East Brunswick died May 9 in The University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. Her husband, Thomas L. Szallai, died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Szallai of South River; a daughter, Brenda Pataki of Baltimore; a brother, John Hamarich of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. on May 16 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, South River.

STANISLAW "STANLEY" PIORKOWSKI, 63, of South River died May 7 at home. Surviving are his wife, Czeslawa Swiecicka Piorkowski; two daughters, Margaret Halicki and Elizabeth "Liz" Skrzypko, both of South River; a son, Ryszard Piorkowski, also of South River; and a grand­daughter. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Sayreville.

ILDA PINTO of East Brunswick died May 10 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Ezekiel Pinto, died in 1985. Surviving are two sons, Ezekiel Pinto Jr. of East Brunswick and David Pinto of North Brunswick; four grand­children, JoAnne, Carrie, Scott and Tiffany; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on May 15 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.

PHILIP GARBER, 78, of Monroe died May 7 at home. He served as a lieutenant in the Polish Army during World War II and helped liberate Maidanek, the Nazi concen­tration camp in eastern Poland. Surviving are his wife, Sabina Garber; three daughters, Henrietta Rosen, Susan Friedman and Miriam Jakobowicz; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. ELLA BEYER FURBER, 99, of Cranbury, formerly of East Brunswick, died May 11 in Elms Nursing Home, Cranbury. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis; a daughter, Dorothy Beckelman; a son-in-law, Leon Ames; a granddaughter, Diane Wasserman; and a great granddaughter, Dawn Beebe. Surviving are a son, Richard Furber of Perth Amboy; a daughter, Elaine Ames of Spotswood; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand­daughter; and one great-great-great-grand­son. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.

MARGARET EDITH LUTZKY DerBED-ROSIAN, 88, of East Brunswick died May 5 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Peter DerBedrosian, died in 1975. Surviving are a son, James DerBedrosian of East Brunswick; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A service was held at Christ Episcopal Church, New Brunswick. Interment was in Weehauken Cemetery, North Bergen.
