MATTHEW PAUL MANDICA, 17, of Eatontown died June 8 at New York Presbyterian Hospital after a battle with cancer. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Eatontown. Matthew was a junior at Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls, where he was a member of the baseball team. He was a parishioner of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, and was a great person, beloved son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his parents, John and Kathlynn "Kitty" Mandica; five brothers, John B., Michael, Anthony, Dominic and Joseph; seven sisters, Kathrine De Sarno, Jacqueline Lurch, Amanda Bontz, Nicole Mandica, Stephanie Mandica, Danielle Mandica and Victoria Mandica; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch, followed by interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. ROSE RIZK SELL, 93, of Long Branch died June 9 at home. Born in Perth Amboy, she had lived in Monmouth Beach, Clark and Newark before moving to Long Branch 23 years ago. Mrs. Sell was a teacher at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, before her retirement. Prior to that, she owned an engineering service for trade unions and taught classes for labor unions for several years. She was a volunteer at the Long Branch Public Library, Elberon section of Long Branch; and the Monmouth County Library, and Planned Parenthood, both Shrewsbury. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Sell; a son, Stephen Sell; and three brothers. Mrs. Sell is survived by a daughter, Nancy Sell Byron of Monmouth Beach; a daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Sell of Mahtomedi, Minn; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. JERRY SEYMOUR, 68, of Monmouth Beach and Brooklyn, N.Y., died Dec. 26 at his home in Brooklyn. Born in New York City, he resided in Monmouth Beach for more than 25 years. Mr. Seymour was a journalist and editor for publications such as the New York Herald Tribune, New York Daily News, Newsweek and Book World before his retirement. He also worked for a time as a public affairs executive. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Seymour was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Georgette Seymour, in 2000. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Liz Seymour and Bob Ourlian; a brother, Jack Seymour; a granddaughter; a niece and a nephew. A memorial service will be held June 14 at noon at Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave.
