Can the Knicks get lucky with the ninth pick?
By: Hank Kalet
NBA draft is tonight. Knicks pick ninth.
Top three are set LeBron James to Cavs, Darko Milicic to Detroit and Carmelo Anthony to Denver. Number four is solidifying, barring a trade, with Georgia Tech freshman Chris Bosh heading to Toronto.
The rest of up in the air.
My choice for the Knicks, if he’s there, would be Chris Kaman, a 7-footer and real post presence. Is he ready to be a star center? Don’t know. Is he a lock to be a star? Don’t know. But he’s big.
There are better choices: Marcel Lampje is considered a top choice and, of course, Bosh and some others who are not likely to be around.
What I hope is that the Knicks make a deal and move up to four and take Bosh. Perhaps Latrell Sprewell and the ninth pick for a couple of players and the number four (I’d love to get Antonio Davis, but that’s not likely).
In any case, it should be an interesting night for Knicks fans.
