Mayor’s actions need investigation

To the editor

Once again, Hillsborough has a black eye.
The childish and poor decision making of Mayor Tony Gwiazdowski has placed the Township Committee, along with the rest of his staff in an unfavorable position.
From the investigation opened by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s office, to committing the township to issues which we may be financially responsible, the answer is simple: He is not a competent mayor or representative of this town.
He has caused more problems and controversy in his short- term, instead of improving life for the citizens of Hillsborough. Mr. Gwiazdowski may not be a bad person or politician, but he just does not have what it takes to fully serve this community.
He should first apologize to all of those involved in this matter and then should strongly consider stepping down as mayor.
By the mayor’s poor decisions, he may have hurt the careers or reputations of those he may work with.
I also feel that an investigation should be reopened by the Prosecutor’s office and the township should open its own independent investigation into the matter to determine what exactly sparked this breakdown in professionalism and whether or not any laws or codes of ethics were broken.
We need to move quickly, come up with solutions, and look toward the future if we plan to remove ourselves from this problem.
