BILLY DEAN MAYFIELD, 56, of Howell, died June 7 at home. He was a technical transfer manager at AT&T, Dayton, for 25 years. He received a graduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a radio technician on nuclear submarines for 12 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10691, Dublin, Ohio. He was a master mason for Golden City No. 1, All Free and Accepted Masons, Colorado; and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA, Colo-rado. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was an American Indian, a descendant of the "Trail of Tears" tribe and a member of the Cherokee Nation. Born in Great Bend, Kan., he lived in Seattle, Colorado and Ohio before moving to New Jersey in 1993, settling in Howell. Surviving are his wife, Karen C. Mayfield of Howell; two sons, Billy and Jason Mayfield, both of Spartanburg, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Kim Mayfield of Spartanburg, and Carrie Nocine of Howell; his parents, William and Dorothy Mayfield of Renton, Wash.; three sisters, Ronda Pampourlos, Sharon Goehring and Vicki Ellis; and two grandchildren. Services were held at C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, in the Adelphia section of Howell. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown.

LEAH BERLEW O’BRIEN, 78, of Lake-wood, died June 18 at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in South Amboy, she lived there for most of her life before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She graduated from Harold G. Hoffman High School in 1941 and was a teacher at St. Mary’s Grammar School in South Amboy in the 1950s. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. She was been a member and past president of the South Amboy Jr. Woman’s Club. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Harris. Surviving are her husband, Thomas A. O’Brien; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Lortan and Nancy O’Brien of Toms River, and Timothy L. and Jean O’Brien of Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne Elizabeth and Lawrence Evans of Monroe; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mass was held at St. Mary’s Church. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.

ROBERT M. CLELLAND, 70, of Lakewood, died June 10 at Bartley Health Care Center, Jackson. He was born in Scotland and lived in Elizabeth before moving to Lakewood in 1962. He was an auto worker employed at the Ford Motor Corp., Edison, for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, Fay, in 1992; a sister, Jane Collatrella, in 2002; and a brother, Adam. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Janice Clelland and John and Darlene Clelland, all of Lakewood; a daughter and son-in-law, Doreen and Richard Barr of Lakewood; four brothers, Andrew of Ohio, William of Pennsylvania, Alexander of Burlington and James of Australia; three sisters, Mary Mangetak of Elizabeth, Netta Duncanson of Linden and Agnes of Australia; and six grandchildren. Services were held at D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood. Cremation was private. Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 25, Denville 07834.

THEODORE W. JACKEL, 64, of Cream Ridge, died June 11 at Bartley Manor Health Care, Jackson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Howell for 30 years before moving to Cream Ridge five years ago. Mr. Jackel worked as a tool and die maker for Mespco Co. Inc., New Brunswick, for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2000. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Holly Jackel of Browns Mills; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Lakomy of Cream Ridge, and Diane and Jerry Hayes of Lacey; two brothers, Walter Jackel of Mahopac, N.Y., and Roy Jackel of Williamstown; a sister, Carol Pugh of Queens, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

DOMINIC A. FUENTES, 34, of Brick, died June 20 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Neptune, he resided in Brick most of his life. He was employed by Gusmer Corporation of Lakewood for five years as an electrical supervisor. Mr. Fuentes was predeceased by his mother, Mary Jane, in May. He is survived by his fiancee, Maureen Walton of Brick; his father and stepmother, Manuel and Patricia, of Brick; a brother, Michael of Howell; a sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and John Glass of Philadelphia; two nephews, Zachary and Tyler; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
